born 1958 in graz, austria; ernestine graduated 1977 from the design and fashion school, schloss hetzendorf in vienna. following her studies she started to travel in 1978, living and working in different countries on four continents. 8 years later, ernestine faux makes bali her second home, building a successful career in the fashion industry as well as working as a painter, portraitist and illustrator. in 1994, ernestine decides to work as a fulltime artist. inevitabley, such a radical change depends on circumstantial pressures as well as inner workings, ripening, maturing and evolving as a human being. the vibrant and emotional testimony of her journey as an artist, the love story between europe and asia, the mind and spirit, the personal and cosmic are vividly expressed in her large canvases, filled with life like symbols and glorious colours. exhibitions

to the paintings of ernestine faux the work of the artist ernestine faux reflects a wide spectrum – from the very detailed, almost three-dimensional to lavish colour fields; from seemingly east asian influences to the many rich cultures, religions and philosophies she was fortunate to experience, impressions that ar now reflected in her art. looking
at her recent works, colour fields 2002, taking pictures from their
frames, her paintings almost take on a form of endlessness, art without
boundaries which seem the beginning of a new voyage. colour abstracts, as she likes to see them, are works that are a celebration to the human spirit, the experience of life, that of being and feeling. she expresses the variety of experiences encountered by senses and deeply felt in the soul on large canvases, in vivid colours, that stimulate the mind, the human spirit, seeking a connection with them, to permit a free play of the viewer’s imagination. in her paintings she celebrates the joy of life, the spiritual journey of togetherness and attuned relationship, known or unknown, the influence of our immediate surroundings that create the happiness and contentment within ourselves. ernestine faux takes the viewer to a world, new and filled with the imaginary and escape to another world, or simply to use the viewer’s very personal skills to appreciate and drink in the work. using
her own words, she likes to open new gates to a different level of consciousness.
